Patches 1-6 are fine.
Patch 7 has a note.
Patches 8-9 seems fine too, at a first glance.
I have pushed this with a to-do comment on patch 7 (on the basis that
it doesn't make things worse than they are now - at the moment,
devices are effectively randomized).
