[PATCH] daemon: Fix configure check so it requires hivex.
by Richard W.M. Jones
Commit 4d3601eb4ed1e314a8d4944a09a7f81638396cb6 made it clear that
ocaml-hivex is required, implying also that hivex is required.
However the configure test was still optional, and if you built
libguestfs without hivex you got a very long and confusing error in
the daemon/ subdirectory.
Thanks: Cédric Bosdonnat

[PATCH v8 0/7] virt-builder-repository tool
by Cédric Bosdonnat
Hi all,
Here is the latest iteration on the virt-builder-repository
series. Diffs to previous version are: fixing things mentioned
by Pino, integrate Pino's osinfo ocaml iterator and adding a
check of the mime type to filter potential image files.
Cédric Bosdonnat (6):
builder: rename docs test script
builder: add a template parameter to get_index
builder: add Index.write_entry function
mllib: add do_mv helper function to Common_utils
mllib: add XPath helper xpath_get_nodes()
Add a virt-builder-repository tool

[PATCH v3 0/6] launch: direct: Disable qemu locking when opening drives readonly.
by Richard W.M. Jones
v2 -> v3:
- I addressed everything that Pino mentioned last time.
- It's tricky to get a stable run when multiple copies of qemu are
involved, because the same cache files get overwritten by parallel
libguestfs. So I changed the names of the cache files to include
the qemu binary key (size, mtime), which removes this conflict.
This is in new patch 4/6.

virt-v2v stuck EDAC sbridge
by Seth Tanner
I am trying to convert vmware guests in preparation for a uploading the image to glance for use in openstack
Environmental Details:
vmware vsphere 5.5
tried converting machines on two different esxi hosts but encountered the same issue
all vm's are ubuntu LTS >= 12.04
happens with LVM and non LVM machines
output of virt-v2v --version
virt-v2v 1.36.5fedora=26,release=1.fc26,libvirt
output of libvirtd --version
libvirtd (libvirt) 3.2.1
virt-v2v and libvirt were installed from yum
/var/tmp/v2vovl*.qcow2 files never grow beyond 196K
I assume never, I let it run for about an hour during with the following processes show 0.0% cpu utilization
qemu-system-x86
libvirtd

It may be worth noting that doing a direct image conversion completes successfully

[PATCH 0/4] lib: qemu: Add test for mandatory locking.
by Richard W.M. Jones
The patch I posted last week to disable mandatory locking for readonly
drives
(https://www.redhat.com/archives/libguestfs/2017-September/msg00013.html)
was wrong in a couple of respects. Firstly it didn't work, which I
didn't detect because my tests were testing the wrong thing. Oops.
Secondly it used a simple version number check to detect qemu binaries
implementing mandatory locking.
This patch series addresses the second issue. It refactors the code
which tests qemu features to make it more manageable. Then it
implements QMP testing, and finally it adds a slightly braindead (but
working) test for whether the qemu binary implements mandatory locking
based on features of the binary and not version numbers.
I tested this against several qemu binaries with and without locking
and it worked for me in all cases.
Rich.
