You could try using --skip-broken to work around the problem
You could try running: package-cleanup --problems
package-cleanup --dupes
rpm -Va --nofiles --nodigest

I've just tried it on my CentOS 5 machine, and it installed fine.
Have you got /usr/lib/libmagic.so.1? Have you tried installing or
updating the 'file' package? Are you using any other external
repositories?
