I think you'll need to set up an environment variable before running ./configure. I'm not much of an opam user myself, but it's probably: export OCAMLPATH=/home/chris/.opam/4.05.0/lib/ocaml or maybe: export OCAMLPATH=/home/chris/.opam/4.05.0/lib/ocaml:/usr/lib/ocaml or similar. You might also want to check /etc/ocamlfind.conf and the opam documentation.
