this improves the situation but fails with the following:

In some cases useful info is found in syslog - try
dmesg | tail or so

This happens for Ubuntu and RHEL guests. Unfortunately I was unable to
find any information on this issue as well.

virt-v2v doesn't work with the latest version of libguestfs in Fedora 18,
because we (Fedora) switched over to using libvirt and we didn't
implement the 'iface' option that virt-v2v requires:

Probably the easiest workaround is to set:
export LIBGUESTFS_ATTACH_METHOD=appliance
