[PATCH nbdkit v2 0/3] Rewrite xz plugin as a filter.
by Richard W.M. Jones 21 Nov '18

21 Nov '18

v2: - Fixes a number of bugs in corner cases. - Uses a 1M block size to fetch from the underlying plugin. This improves performance considerably. I also tested this much more thoroughly and can't find any more bugs. Rich.

[PATCH nbdkit 0/2] Rewrite xz plugin as a filter.
by Richard W.M. Jones 21 Nov '18

21 Nov '18

Matt asked if xz should really be a filter rather than a plugin. The answer is yes, of course it should be! That's been something in the todo file for a while. The commit converts the xz plugin code into a filter (leaving the plugin around, but deprecating it). plugin: nbdkit xz file.xz filter: nbdkit --filter=xz file file.xz plugin: # can't be done filter: nbdkit --filter=xz curl url=https://example.com/disk.xz This is only lightly tested but it works for local files and for the curl example given in the commit message. Unfortunately because of the very large block size used in the Fedora cloud image, the curl example is barely usable. We should get them to use a more reasonable block size such as 16M (currently 192M). Rich.

[PATCH v2 0/3] v2v: -o rhv-upload: Add a test.
by Richard W.M. Jones 21 Nov '18

21 Nov '18

v1 was here: https://www.redhat.com/archives/libguestfs/2018-September/msg00121.html v2: - Rewrote patch 2 from scratch so it incorporates Nir's suggestions. - Add fake module to EXTRA_DIST. - Retested. Unfortunately I am no longer able to test the ordinary conversion path because ovirtsdk4 is incompatible with Fedora 29 / Python 3.7: https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1622043 so I'm unable to verify that the changes (esp patch 2) don't break this. Rich.

virt-df stuck at supermin: [...] waiting for /sys/block/sdb/dev to appear
by Peter Dimitrov 20 Nov '18

20 Nov '18

This problem occurs on certain machines but I can't tell why and how exactly to fix it. The message suggests a problem with kernel modules, but they all seem to load successfully, including many virtio modules. Best Regards, Peter

[PATCH v4 0/2] v2v: -o openstack: -oo verify-server-certificate=(true|false) (RHBZ#1651432).
by Richard W.M. Jones 20 Nov '18

20 Nov '18

The first patch restricts passthrough parameters to ones matching "os-*". This was how it was documented, but not how it was implemented. The second patch is the same as v2 here: https://www.redhat.com/archives/libguestfs/2018-November/msg00187.html Rich.

[PATCH v2] test-data: Allow tests to be run when Btrfs is not available.
by Richard W.M. Jones 20 Nov '18

20 Nov '18

v2: - Moved the btrfs available test into the subclause where it is used. Note I got tired of fighting emacs indentation mode and I pushed a whitespace only patch which fixes the indentation to be 4 spaces instead of 2 spaces: https://github.com/libguestfs/libguestfs/commit/df54c75d4c53ed580e5269306e1… This v2 patch requires that one. Rich.

[PATCH v3] v2v: -o openstack: Allow -oo insecure (RHBZ#1651432).
by Richard W.M. Jones 20 Nov '18

20 Nov '18

A smaller change than v2, we simply generalize the ability to pass through flags to the underlying openstack command, allowing the --insecure flag to be specified directly. Rich.

[PATCH v2] v2v: -o openstack: -oo verify-server-certificate=(true|false) (RHBZ#1651432).
