building the appliance.
Patches 7-10 are specific to Mac OS X, but shouldn't break the build

No, we will review them together on the list next week.
I need to test that they don't break existing builds (ie. Fedora
and Debian) before we commit them.
However assuming that they don't break other things and no one finds
any big problems, there is a near certainty that they will make it
into our main git repository.
