Your very first email refers to libguestsfs 1.40.2, where is
libguestfs-test-tool reports refer to libguestfs 1.38.2.
Anyway, can you download pre-built FIXED appliance matching your
libguestfs version and try using it?
Here is you can find pre-built FIXED appliances:
http://download.libguestfs.org/binaries/appliance/
Download and untar it anywhere.
Then launch libguestfs-test-tool specifying path to fixed appliance like this:
LIBGUESTFS_PATH=/path/to/fixed-appliance libguestfs-test-tool
Does it make any difference?
