It turns out that mke2fs has a ā-dā option which copies files and
directories recursively into a filesystem! Who knew?
One problem is that it doesn't support merging, but I guess we can add
that to mke2fs. It will make the implementation of this massively
simpler because we can remove all the libext2fs code, but I think we
still need the plugin to exist.
Anyway, v3 is needed at some point ...
