I changed the 'cp -u ...' in your original patch to something that uses 'cmp'. See: http://git.annexia.org/?p=hivex.git;a=commitdiff;h=b22f2651674b4628978bd5971... This was needed in order to make builds work where srcdir == builddir (I tested both ways, but I too did not test 'make install'). I'll take a look at the patches tomorrow.
