chroot "$TARGET" "$@"
finishes with 0 exit code?
Me neither. The only thing that could help is to add
some debugging
output to in_target_failsmsg to get the return code, command, etc. Just
to make sure we're not beating a dead horse: this is debootstrap 1.0.15?
/bin/sh is bash?
