I think, but am still in the middle of testing, that with this series applied first, I don't even need to worry about creating/applying a PySlice object to a PyMemoryView. Instead, I can copy a Py_buffer, tweak the underlying pointer and length to match the subset in use, the use PyMemoryView_FromBuffer.
